Sophienterrassen

The quarter

Sophienterrassen

Continuing a tradition

Today, the Sophienterrassen are as much a part of Hamburg-Harvestehude as if they had always existed here. Perhaps because they continue a way of life that began with wealthy Hamburg merchants who had magnificent villas with extensive parks built here. Around the listed, renovated and converted Sophienpalais, an ensemble of different building forms and architectural styles has been created in a dreamlike park. They seem as rooted to this place as the old park trees.

LOCATION & SURROUNDINGS

The favour of the location

Harvestehude has always been regarded in Hamburg as a place where the social elite live and as a sign of an exclusive location. But the area from Mittelweg to Harvestehuder Weg on the Alster beats everything else. Here, in the middle of the Sophienterrassen, the SOPHIE building is located in a neighbourhood square. This makes it the starting point for experiences on and around the Alster as well as for gastronomic discoveries, social events and shopping opportunities around the Sophienterrassen.

Naturally in Hamburg

City, park, river

The SOPHIE skilfully combines apparent opposites through its planning and location. The urban square around the central fountain in front of the building with the omnipresent parkland and its mighty trees, private retreats with semi-public areas, Harvestehude with the Alster. Built culture and carefully planned nature come together in a place that could not be more exclusive.
